I got into metal in my late teens, and I found it helped me with my depression--later, it also helped with my anxiety and PTSD. Some people see metal as an angry genre, but I've found it to be therapeutic. For me, it's all about the rhythm and the sound.
I've always believed that music is a universal language, much like math.
